Visit and tour the Sheraton-Gunter Hotel at this link above in the "LINKS" box: 2008 REUNION HOTEL TOUR

I WANT TO START BY THANKING JOHN SCHMIDT FOR GETTING IT ALL STARTED WITH THE FIRST COMPANY REUNION IN MAY 2006.  HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR HIM WE WOULD ALL STILL BE WONDERING WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED SINCE VIETNAM.

I THINK WE ALL AGREE WHEN I SAY, THANKS JOHN ON BEHALF OF EVERYONE IN THE 41st CIVIL AFFAIRS COMPANY THAT WE HAVE ALREADY MADE CONTACT WITH AND THOSE THAT WILL BE FOUND LATER.

TEAM 8 - CAMP ENARI              TEAM 9 - EDAP ENANG

TEAM 1 - BONG SON

What initially started out as a Team 15 Reunion, turned out to be a great success with our Brothers from Team 8, Team 9 and John Schmidt, Team 1, who dubbed it the “Highlands” reunion.  We immediately began to re-acquaint ourselves and as a group ventured out for our meals and sightseeing of beautiful Denver.

First to arrive (Wed evening 18 Jul 07) were Gary and Gayle Faith and met up with Jimmie and Dee Gonzalez the next (Thu 19 Jul 07) morning. Around noon we met up with Ron and Sharon Matheson for lunch at Islamorada by the Bass Pro Shop.  Dee and I could not check-in until 1500 hrs so after lunch we returned to the hotel where we all met up with John and Susan who also had to check-in.   Hotel staff were very strict about the 3:00 PM check-in.

Thursday (19 Jul 07) evening we wound up in the hotel bar for Happy Hour where David and Doris Caswell met up with us for some cheer.  Dave had some stories to tell.  As did the rest of us.  We later moved into the hotel’s restaurant for dinner.

Friday, 20 Jul 07: We all got together for breakfast at the local IHOP.

Shortly after breakfast we all proceeded into the LoDo District in Downtown Denver to check out the sites; The Vietnam Memorial; the Capitol; and some souvenir hunting.  Andy and Sharon Lattu had gone on their own and were on their way to the Garden of the Gods and Pike’s Peak.

Susan Schmidt looks like she's ready for some serious shopping in LoDo.

Gary Faith was taking the photo and Jimmie Gonzalez had gone to feed the parking meter.  L-R: Gayle Faith; Doris Caswell; John Schmidt; David Caswell and Dee Gonzalez

The Vietnam Memorial stands tall in front of the State Capitol

Like all good soldiers we found a watering hole.  This is Gary at the Rock Bottom Micro-brewery where we quenched our thirst and had a snack.   We later found out that Bob Miller’s office is in the same building.

We returned to the hotel briefly to freshen up and proceeded to the the Coors Brewery in Golden for the tour and to sample the products.

Waiting for the shuttle to the brewery.

Where can I get one of these?

Coors' Brews

Why settle for one when you can have two drinks.

We had to leave the brewery because they were closing and we saw this tribute to our military just outside the exit.

We all met for dinner and returned to the hotel for a night cap.

Saturday (21 Jul 07) after breakfast the ladies went out on their own while the guys got together to talk about our time and experiences in Vietnam with the 41st Civil Affairs and our respective teams.  Bob Miller had been out of town but made it a point to come and share some time with us.

Yeah Bob, that’s you.

John talking about his experiences.

Jimmie thinks back as he looks at Ron's photo album

After an exhausting day out at the Botanical Gardens and other sites, it's a pit stop for a cold one in the hotel bar.

Notice how the only ones drinking are the women?

Saturday evening wrapped up with dinner at Emil-Lenes Steakhouse where the service and the food were absolutely great.

Freshly cut veggies were brought out for starters.

Andy had just taken a bite on a dill pickle.

Our waitress Brandy was ready with the pepper mill.

Sharon assisting to ensure she gets her share of pepper.

Sorry guys, when the steaks arrived all cameras were put away.

After dinner we took photos outside the restaurant;

First the guys,

Then the ladies

Final photos were taken when we returned to the hotel. Unfortunately, Bob went home after dinner

HOPE TO SEE MANY OF YOU AT THE 41ST CIVIL AFFAIRS COMPANY REUNION
